Cine Connect was born from a shared passion for the South African film industry. Founded by John Papas and Mlondolozi Khambule, with 27 years of combined on-set experience, it began as a humble venture renting out film equipment from Johnny’s garage.

Recognizing a growing demand for reliable, high-quality gear rentals, they officially launched Cine Connect in 2019, opening their first office and rental space in Rivonia. As the business grew, they moved to a larger facility in Strydom Park a few years later to accommodate their expanding inventory and better serve their clients.

But for Johnny and Londi, it’s always been about more than just gear. They are committed to supporting the local film industry—providing production houses with essential tools, empowering crews, and creating opportunities for aspiring professionals. Their dedication extends beyond film, with regular charity drives and contributions to meaningful causes.
